Instant Pickmeups!

Ok. So. After falling asleep with a cold at 5:30 pm yesterday and waking up at 7:30 am, I was feeling a little on the sluggish side this morning. BUT after brushing my teeth and looking in the mirror, I thought about something. I looked at my eyebrows, which were perfectly tweezed from the tweezing I had done a day or two prior. Having tweezed eyebrows is something that can instantly make me feel better, in almost any situation. Which led me to a whole list of teeny tiny things that make me feel better when feeling frumpy and -blah-. I thought it was blog-worthy, if only for me to have that list to remind me on rainy days, if you will. So, without further ado, in no particular order:

Instant Pickmeups

1. Plucking your eyebrows. It instantly opens your eyes, making your face look brighter, more awake, and less cluttered.
2. Washing your face. If only to get that clean tingly feeling.
3. Clean your room! Feng Shui is not just a myth. Getting the clutter out of your room will help you get it out of your mind and soul.
4. Yoga. It's easy, it's relaxing, and it is SO GOOD FOR YOU!
5. Soak up some sun! your body needs sunlight to function! Sunshine kicks endorphins into gear and gets you some much needed Vitamin D! Go outside! Or, when it's lame-o winter time (or early spring that has forgotten his identity), I just invested in a HappyLight, which I love. Sit next to it for a 1/2-1 hour twice a day and you will seriously feel the effects. It drastically reduces fatigue and all around glumness.
6. Fresh fruit! If I am ever feeling gross or super down on myself, I eat raw foods only until I can't stand it any longer. Vitality in large quantities is something that only raw foods can give you. You seriously feel a difference when eating fresh raw foods. And fruit just tastes so good. I recommend berries, the darker the better. They are super lo-cal and are WAY high in antioxidants.
7. a weeency bit of chocolate. a little something sweet delights the tastebuds, but chocolate also helps in the release of endorphins. Endorphins make you happy, and happy people just don't kill their husbands. only eat a little! overdoing it will give you that nasty sugar meltdown and/or bloat. ew.
8. flossing your teeth. so what if it sounds base and gross? how many of us do it as much as we should?! that's what i thought. so whip out the floss, clean up your gums, and then rinse and spit. leaves the mouth fresh and squeaky clean! (:
9. paint your own nails. who doesn't like a nice new color to add to their ensemble? i love nailpolish. having wet nails is also an excuse to relax for a half hour (oops. can't! wet nails. sorry!). read a book! or better yet, a juicy magazine. OR watch that show you never get to watch. Real housewives anyone?
10. write a thank you note. you are a nice person, and people probably do nice things for you all the time! take a second and write them a thank you note, and send it in the mail, old school style. there is something about sending and receiving letters that nothing else can duplicate.
11. a hot shower. washing the muck away can also mean washing the stress away. the steam and smells calm the nerves and relax the muscles. like a great big incubator (-_-)
12. a tall glass of ice water. staying hydrated keeps you alert, energized, and happy. it reduces under-eye circles, boosts your metabolism, clears up your skin, keeps your organs working properly, and boosts your immune system. among other things. basically, water=magic juice. soooo.....drink some. it makes ya feel better.

annnnnd that's all i got for now. these simple things may seem dumb but seriously just do one of them. and then tell me if you felt worse about yourself after you did it! you won't.
caity OUT!

  1. Totally agree! Especially with the eyebrow thing. I don't know why, but it always makes me feel more put together.
