7.20.15 target baby deal

hey mom friends :D a lot of you seemed interested in the baby deal this week and wanted to know how to score it too, so i thought i would share!

what i got:

  • 2 giant packs of pampers swaddlers
  • 2 packs of pampers wipes
  • 3 tubs of similac formula
adorable baby not included.

what it cost:
diapers ($34.99x2) = $69.98
wipes ($1.97x2)= 3.94
formula ($24.99x2) = 74.97
total = $148.89

what i spent:
$110.05

what i saved:
$38.84 OR 26.1% (that's basically a free giant pack of diapers and a pack of wipes, friends. can you believe that?! a month of diapers free using this deal!)

HOW TO GET THIS DEAL:

what you'll need:

  • Target Mobile App (separate from the Target Cartwheel app!)
  • 2 devices (mobile device, computer, tablet, notebook etc) to print coupons from coupons.com
  • Target REDcard (debit or credit. i have the debit card.)
step by step:

1. in the Target weekly ad, there is a promotion going on right now for diapers and a separate one for formula.

as you can see, when you buy 2 giant-packs of almost any brand of diapers (the deal includes all Huggies {except pull-ups}, all pampers {except good-nites and easy-ups training pants}, Luvs, and up & up {target brand}), you get a $10 target gift card.

also, formula has a similar deal, where if you buy 3 tubs of basically any brand or type of formula (we use similac advance), you also get a $10 gift card.

*note: i chose to do my grocery shopping at target this week, in a second subsequent transaction, so i could instantly apply my gift card savings and make them feel more palpable.

2. if you don't already have it, download the Target Mobile app and subscribe to their mobile coupons. if you click "deals" you can access mobile coupons. this week there is a special mobile coupon for baby items. (these count as "store coupons", which means they are specific to target and cannot be redeemed anywhere else). there are coupons for 2 different types of formula and huggies diapers. (we don't use huggies so we didn't save as much as we ~could~ have saved but oh well.) when you present the bar code at the top of the screen (it would be in the image below if the page was all the way scrolled up) to the cashier at check out, they will scan it and all of the coupons on the list will be applied.

3. go to coupons.com on your computer or download the coupons.com app onto your tablet or mobile device and select (or "clip") the available coupons for $2 similac three times, and the $2 off a pack of swaddlers AND wipes together (it's a package deal type coupon thing) twice. each device only lets you print 2 copies of each coupon, so you'll have to print that last similac one on a separate device. (for it to work on a mobile device, you need to be able to access an HP printer via wifi, and to print from your computer you just need to install a little app thing that sends the coupons from the browser to your printer. to print from a computer, any printer will work, not just HP.) print them, cut them out, and present them at checkout. (these coupons are "manufacturer coupons" which means they were sent out by the manufacturer and can be used at any store that accepts coupons, and can be applied in addition to store coupons.)

4. if you have a target REDcard, use it now for that extra 5% off!

and that's it. just 4 super easy steps. and you thought couponing was hard, you silly person.

the math:
(realizing now that the equal and the minus sign look REALLY similar in this font...sorry guys. the bolder one is actually an equal sign {=} and the thin one is minus {-})

diapers ($34.99x2) = $69.98
wipes ($1.97x2)= $3.94
formula ($24.99x2) = 74.97
total = $148.89
-$2 pampers/wipes mfr coupon
-$2 pampers/wipes mfr coupon
-$2 similac mfr coupon
-$2 similac mfr coupon
-$2 similac mfr coupon
-$2 similac store coupon
= $136.89
-5% with target REDcard ($6.84)
=130.05
-$10 back on target gift card
-$10 back on target gift card
---------------------
=$110.05

BOOM! *mic drop*

so let's see how these prices stack up next to other places shall we?

unit price comparison:

i paid (after deal):
swaddlers size 1 giant pack (148 diapers): $27.29 (.18/diaper)
pampers wipes 64 pk: $00.92 (1.4 cents/wipe)
similac advance formula 23.2 oz tub: $17.88 (.77/oz)

amazon mom
swaddlers size 1 giant pack (148 diapers): $33.42 (.23/diaper)
pamepers wipes 72 pk: $2.00 (2.8 cents/wipe)
similac advance formula 23.2 oz tub: $32.99 ($1.38/oz)

costco:
huggies little snugglers 192 pack (costco does not carry pampers): $37.49 (.20/diaper)
kirkland wipes 900 pk: $19.99 (2.2 cents/wipe)
similac advance formula 34 oz tub: $32.99 (.97/oz)

as you can see, using the target deal, you save a bit with diapers, HALF with wipes, and up to almost half with formula. totally worth the 10 (more like 5) minutes of effort it takes to download an app and clip a couple coupons, if you ask me.

anyway, i hope this was helpful to some of you! if you would like me to do this with more of the deals i use, just shoot me a message and let me know and i'll be sure to post whenever i do a big deal. there are few things i love more than helping friends save a buck!
