a few thoughts about bea....
-it's the end of an era. bea has moved on from finding nemo. i don't know why this troubles me so, but it does. now, instead of constantly asking for "momo", she is always begging for "go! go!" or "Soh-mah!" (short for "let it go" and "snowman!". that's right, people. frozen is upon us.) she does still call goldfish "momo's" and loves to look at books about fish and sharks. man does she love sharks. and turtles. the turtle from nemo's name is "crush" but she says "bush". so now all turtles are "bush!". so that's confusing to outsiders...
-she also loves wall-e, and continues to call him "bobot!" or "Wah-wee", and allllllways asks for "bobot" music when we get in the car. the second i turn on the music from the movie, she does the robot and wiggles and shouts "BOBOTTTT!!!!!!!!!". it is wildly cute.
-she likes to add the suffix -y to jusssst about everything. books? bookies. sharks? sharkies. sleep? sleepies. hugs? huggies. she even calls let it go "go-y" sometimes. i was telling my mom on the phone the other day that i have no idea why bea does that, and then i said something like "ok beebee time for your nappyboo." and my mom was like...."really? no idea?" sooooo maybe it's my fault.
-she really likes this baby doll my brother in law brought her home from his mission in peru. its a little papoose with a face basically and she LOVES it. she is always wrapping it up in her blankie (which she now affectionately calls her "seepies", as in "going to sleep", "go sleepy", "go seepies" #evolution) and giving her binky to it and sitting it in her little chair. she even whispers when she puts him down for a pretend nap. it is adorable.
-she is getting more and more imaginative with her pretending. I LOVE IT! she makes me pretend meals, plays with baby dolls, hides in corners and talks to herself (that sounds more weird than cute but. just trust me.), points out windows at the "choo choos" (anything with wheels is a choo choo.) and tries to involve me in her pretending. she makes me whisper when her baby is sleeping, she asks me to pretend to be a horse (mommy! neigh neigh! mommy neigh!) while she pretends to be another animal, etc etc. i love getting a peek inside her brain this way, i feel like i can connect with her on a whole new level now and it is wonderful.
-she is getting increasingly more dextrous with her dancing skills, and i just heard that our friend who teaches ballet has a two year old class, so im now basically counting down the days til she turns 2.
-she now will only ride in the stroller if it is fully reclined. if it's not reclined, she whines "SEEPIES! SEEPIES!!!" until i recline it. it's the kind of stroller that lets you sit up when it's reclined, which is what she always ends up doing, but the default must be a laying down position. can't say why.
-she LOVES to give HUGS! in the hallway of our building, whenever we see someone walking towards us, she throws her arms out and runs toward them shouting "HUGS!!! HUGS!! HUGGIESSSSS!!!!!" and it kinda weirds people out. we are working on this but it's hard to resist and hard to tell her we don't hug strangers. she just really loves people. either that or every once in a while she'll see someone she does not want to hug, and promptly reaches for me and says "UP! UP UP!" it's completely arbitrary on who gets the hug and who gets snubbed. i've tried to find patterns and have always failed.
-she can finally say "I love you!" IT'S SO CUTE! whenever we say "i love you" she says "i lubby choo!" (i love you too). i can barely stand the cuteness.
-she did all of her pooping on the potty last week and this week she won't go near the potty. baby steps. i'm just glad we're starting early.
-she is getting really good at mimicking. for instance, she had a particularly nasty diaper the other day, at which i said "YUCK!". she now says yuck whenever i change a poopy diaper.
-she knows who aunt abby is. we have a picture of her on our fridge, and bea loves to point at it and say "ABBY! ABBY!"
-she is getting more skilled at coloring and eating with a fork or spoon. she still grips them funny and won't let me help her grip it more firmly, but we'll get there one day.
-she finally loves baths. we got her some fish toys and would only let her have them if she sat down in the tub and that pretty much did it. she even pours water on her own head now! this makes for a very happy mom at bathtime.
-bea loves her cousin rosalind. she loves watching videos of her and always says "baby ros!" to the phone. we were facetiming with my mom today and bea kept pointing at the phone going "ros? ros?". she loves being the big girl.
-brad taught her the word for beard and now she always points to my chin and says "beeeeooooooood". it's very flattering.
-she knows some colors! the first one: pink. she loves pink. i let her pick which coat she wanted from costco the other day; i was pulling for purple, but she promptly pointed to the pink coat and said "Peek!". so i got the pink one. #personalexpression. she also knows blue (beeyew) and yellow (lellow).
-she knows some numbers. if i start counting, i say "one", she says "teeeeeeooooooo", i say "three," she says "foooohhhhh" and sometimes she'll say "five" but that is a recent and rare development.
-she LOVES popcorn. it is hands down her favorite food. if you offer her a cookie or some popcorn, she will take the popcorn. she says "pokkon! pokkon!!!" every time i open the pantry, and when she doesn't always get it, we have a mini melt-down. i think she likes it partially because of nursery, where they sing the popcorn song, which is a favorite, along with head, shoulders, knees, and toes, which she just calls "toes! toes!"
-she loves to swing at the park and now can go down all the big kid slides. i try to keep her on the toddler ones as long as possible but she always finds her way over to the bigger ones. she can go up and down them all by herself. she loves doing big kid stuff!
-her new thing is "STOP! NO! STOP!" while putting her hand out. i do not like this one.
-we play a game where i say "whoooooo's my girl????" and she goes "MEEEEEE!!!!!!!!" we love that game. it also works with "who's the smartest/prettiest/cutest/nicest/bestest/my favorite girl?" she will have a very inflated ego. i'll do damage control on that one later.
allllright that's all i can think of for now.
now here she is on the toilet!
