Something in the back of my brain must really not want my future self to have any memories of the past. I never take pictures of anything, I don't journal anymore, and I never update this dumb blog. But seeing as our lives are about to change significantly I thought I might as well post an update. (First one in 10 months!!! wowie!)
SOOOOOOOO I'll start where I left off I guess.
I was chugging along, doing the temping thing, when there was a brief lull for a while. Then in February, this company I had interviewed at for an Assistant Editing position for in October (and not gotten the job, mind you) contacted me out of the blue and asked if I was looking for work. Long story short, I started work in March working freelance for a Post-Production company (whose clients include ESPN, TBS, and A&E programming to name a few) just in Stamford, Connecticut on a project for allrecipes.com where we do a cooking video for each of their top 1200 recipes. It's actually a lot of fun. I work at the cooking studio, so I am always getting offered food (often desserts), I'm learning Avid in a relaxed, hands on environment, and my (usually) 9-5 hours are pretty flexible. Best part is, my contract only goes until the end of December! (Yes, I am still afraid of job-commitment.) This works out great though, because, as probably everyone knows by now because I can't stop blabbing about it, we are expecting in January! And it is (most likely) a she! Prettttty neat. Now I don't have to worry about maternity leave and crap like that! It's a nice clean break and a great experience that's working out really well for us.
Speaking of things that are working out really well; while I am perhaps the world's worst blogger, it turns out that my other half is one of the best. His gaming blog is still a raging success. He is always getting invited to gaming (video, board, app, or otherwise) conventions across the country, developers are constantly contacting him for advice, he has a sizable YouTube following for his game reviews, we get free stuff all the time, and he even has been doing app project management on the side for some chump change. It's fun to see him do what he enjoys. I went to a convention in Boston with him in April and everyone knew who he was and wanted to talk to him! I felt famous by association. And felt the need to be living proof that total nerds can have dimes for wives ;) (lolz totez jk! rofl.) He is actually headed to another one tonight for the weekend in Seattle. He has his name on all these exclusive party lists; I'm kinda sad I won't be going. He better bring me home some cool free stuff. He still has his day job (promoted since last post!) as the Licensing Manager at the audio production company. We enjoy the perks of that job on weekends too (i.e our anniversary trip to Newport, RI a few weeks ago where we enjoyed complimentary tours of all the mansions. total blast.) About 90% of the world's museums (and things of that nature) are free to us at the moment so we need to take advantage of that. He will definitely not be working there forever. Grad school is still on the horizon for him; we're thinking one more year in a different job perhaps and then it's time.
In other news, this blog is probably the best place for me to do all my pregnancy-talk (/whining/marveling/etc) since people on facebook are probably SO OVER hearing about it. But I've got stuff to do right now. So, for the moment, suffice it to say that I am now 18 1/2 weeks along (about 4.5 months), my belly looks like a mini-Santa belly, my hair decided to skip the "thick and lustrous" thing and turn into a giant frizzball, none of my clothes fit, I FINALLY felt the baby move two magical weeks ago, we found out yesterday that it is a girl (and a very stubborn one at that...), and I threw up for the first time a couple nights ago. Twice. But I'm pretty sure that was a stomach flu I caught at church, compliments of my semi-new calling: sunbeams teacher! Before any of you moms get nasty-jealous of my barf-free pregnancy, TRUST ME there have been PLENTY of other discomforts up in hurr, but I will not bore you with those at this time. I have to take Bradley to the airport now! (leaving work early! w00t!)
Here's to hoping I keep up with the blog this time! Praise me for updating, or heaven-forbid, I won't update when the baby comes, and THEN where will we be????
:D

This is an awesome post, and let me just say I am TOTALLY jealous of your barf-free pregnancy! Does your tummy even hurt at all? I would give anything to make it stop! Congrats on the whole gender reveal thing! Can't wait for mine in like 6 weeks!
ReplyDeleteOh trust me, I wish I had barfed the whole time. ANYTHING to relieve the nausea! At least after you barf there's a brief let-up period when you feel better. I was not so fortunate. I had pretty much constant nausea with no barf-relief for the whole first trimester. Consider yourself lucky!
ReplyDeletepraise, praise
ReplyDeletehahaha oh caity, you'd better keep blogging. OR ELSE. :D
